She specializes in treatment with adults who have experienced single incident or complex trauma, as well as a multitude of other issues such as depression, anxiety, dissociation, and mood disorders. She has been practicing as a social worker and therapist since 2012. Milena is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is Internal Family Systems (IFS) Informed. Treatment is also guided by elements from her training in Prolonged Exposure, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Progressive Counting, Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Motivational Interviewing. Milena has provided trainings for other professionals in the field on trauma and has received significant training in trauma-informed care.
Prior to owning her practice, she worked as an Outpatient Clinician, Clinical Supervisor, and Clinical Director at a local group private practice. Early in her career, Milena worked for several years with children on the autism spectrum before earning her Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The College of Wooster.
In therapy, Milena has confidence that each client possesses the tools and resources they need to experience a more balanced internal system and healthier, more adaptive behaviors. She firmly believes that every part of oneself is a strength, and some strengths need and deserve healing. Within that belief, it becomes clear that every client has a sense of resiliency that was perhaps unknown to them until now. With all of the resources that one’s own Self has to offer, trauma resolution becomes a real possibility, leading to a more fulfilling life.
